Policies
In addition to California's standard rental policies, Stanford maintains additional policies on eligibility requirements, renter's insurance requirements, and other topics such as pets, parking, and lease terms.
Lease Termination Policy
Early termination of your lease is an option, subject to the fees and terms noted within your lease. If you are thinking of buying within the timeframe of your lease, you will want to weigh the lease-break fee against the month-to-month premium, to determine which lease term option works best for you.
Renter's Insurance Policy
Stanford Rental Homes requires that all lease holders carry renter's insurance. The renter's insurance policy must include liability coverage with a minimum amount of $100,000 per occurrence. The renter’s insurance policy can also include personal property coverage in an amount of your choosing, which is recommended, but not required.
An insurance certificate will be required, which must name the following party as an "additional insured" on the policy:
The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University
c/o Robinson and Company
3603 Alameda de las Pulgas
Menlo Park CA 94025
(650) 854-2700
Permit Parking Policy
On-campus and off-campus rental homes may require parking permits. Stanford Rental Homes will provide permits per household needs. The quantity and the nature of the parking permit may vary per the local jurisdiction.
Pet Policies
A pet agreement is required for all tenants who have pets. A $1,000 additional deposit fee and a monthly pet rental premium of $25 applies. Stanford Rental Homes reserves the right to review and approve all types of pets. Residents must ensure that the conduct of a pet does not cause nuisance or disturbance to others. Residents are required to professionally de-flea the unit upon move-out. Stanford Rental Homes have preferred vendors who can provide this service at cost.
